Wilson's School in Wallington is one of the four Sutton grammar schools (alongside Sutton Grammar, Wallington County Grammar and Wallington High School for Girls). Wilson's is boys-only and consistently ranks among the top 30 state schools nationally.
The Sutton consortium test
Sutton schools use a joint two-stage test:
- Stage 1 (mid-September Year 6) — English, Maths and Verbal/Non-Verbal Reasoning mixed (~90 min). Top ~600 advance.
- Stage 2 (mid-October Year 6) — Longer reasoning + comprehension paper. Top 175 boys offered Wilson's places.
Qualifying score
Stage 1 requires a standardised score of around 121+. Stage 2 then selects the top 175 boys for Wilson's specifically.
Catchment
Wilson's allocates 90 places by ranked score and 85 by distance (within a 2-mile inner ring). The geographic split means living close to the school helps significantly.
Preparation
The Sutton test is one of the longer 11+ formats. Endurance and pace matter as much as accuracy. Quest Arena's centre-specific library includes Sutton-style mocks.
